5 tips to brighten your days when inside and alone!

In an era of physical distancing, it is natural to miss human contact, especially when you live alone. And work being hectic, more than ever, how to keep the energy up, enthusiasm up and be joyful. First of all don’t deny or resist whatever you feel, embrace it, acknowledge it and accept it. It shows that we are human when we have ability to feel 🙂

And then go ahead and find your ways. Here are few tips from my list:

1.Find Light : If you feel lethargic, tired, just sitting at home, probably you are missing some sunshine. Find bright places at home to work or just find some exposure to sun and natural light while reading newspaper or doing yoga in morning.

Since we are not going out, see if there is enough light where you spend most time of your day. Or indulge in little gardening and have some bright flowers giving you company.

Everyday a new flower peeping from my balcony makes my day.

2. Keep Moving and Stay Active : Don’t keep sitting for long hours and find ways to move. Don’t underestimate just walking across the hall once in a while when you are working.

Or doing some stretching while standing in kitchen or putting on your favorite music when bored and dancing to the tunes.

3. Include interesting activities in your day : It could be learning new skill, online get together with loved ones, time for hobbies, whatever it is, schedule it! And do it!

One of my rituals is laughing in front of mirror in the morning for 5 minutes. Making an effort to be joyful and happy, that itself may make you happy. Just know that being joyful is out basic nature.

4. Online volunteering: If you are reading this, you are definitely much more privileged than many others and have opportunity to be there for people. Being there for people is an amazing mood lifter. We all can do a lot, give a lot, figure out what it is and find different ways of human contact.

There are many opportunities these days to be able to volunteer online, find what fits you and get into it. Be kind, compassionate and consume yourself for the world.

5. Have daily plan of action : Listing down things helps a lot in being able to do it. Small, incremental steps, often lead to great satisfaction. Once you have plan of action, everything will be manageable and you will find yourself inspired to do more. Keep adding to the list, set small targets.

At the end of the day, isn’t it such a satisfying thing to do to check things off your list, big or small!

Cherish this time of solitude because you never know you might miss it in future. Keep smiling, Stay home, safe and healthy and keep in touch :)
